Walk it Like it's Hot!

It’s Ciara again, how are y'all doing? Let me tell you about my most recent hiking experience. My roommates and I decided last minute to go to Romero Pools. This is about a 30 minute drive out north and the hike itself is 5.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,322 feet so around 4 hours altogether. The trail is easy but there is no shade so you’re truly battling with the elements. An hour into our hike I was experiencing some exhaustion which is normal but then my body started getting cold even though I was incredibly hot. Without going into too much detail, I had a heat stroke and we never made it to the pools. The reason I wanted to share this story is because although I had enough water and we were pacing ourselves, be VERY careful when you’re hiking in this Tucson heat. Hiking is one of my favorite things to do in Tucson especially when it leads to a body of water at the end, it’s like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! My advice, go early in the morning when it's cooler, bring more water than you need, and eat a good meal beforehand. Enjoy the outdoors and get connected to nature, we got a lot of it out here :)
